Message From New Canuck Coach - Matt King

To all Canucks, I thought I'd briefly introduce myself.

I was lucky enough to meet a few of you between my summer in Calgary in 2003 and my brief visit there in November, 2006. I look forward to meeting you all personally when I get to Calgary.

I'm very excited to be on board with the Canucks as head coach for the 2007 rugby season and look forward to making a positive contribution towards your campaign to improve on last year's performance!

Besides my playing experience, at teh club, representative and national level, I've served as assistant coach of the Toronto Extreme, Ontario U21 (to a national championship), and was loosely involved in coaching my club in Toronto, the Balmy Beach RFC, to a provincial championship. While I've had lots of in-depth exposure to the technical side of rugby at a high level and feel I can help substantially in that area, I look forward to the challenge of handling the administrative and player management side of things as a head coach of the club.

Larry Jones, Colin Oglivy, and myself have already begun discussing the upcoming season, and I welcome any suggestions any of you might have to help me get things ready for when I arrive. Further, I'm more than willing to answer any questions via email regarding pre-season training, fitness programs, or other aspects of on field preparations.

Larry and Colin have mentioned that many of you are already taking part in extensive off-season training, which is great news and should help us hit the ground running.

Hope all's well, and looking forward to being involved with the club!

Regards,
Matt King
